NDP: Joe Ceci

A decades-long fixture of municipal and provincial politics, Ceci is the incumbent MLA for Calgary-Buffalo. He first won the seat in 2015 and served as finance minister in Rachel Notley's cabinet. Ceci also served as the alderman for Ward 9 from 1995 to 2010.

NDP: Janet Eremenko

Eremenko won the NDP nomination in November 2021, defeating Brian Malkinson, who served as MLA from 2015 to 2019. She was previously the NDP candidate for Calgary-Elbow in 2019, and ran for the Ward 11 council seat in 2017.

UCP: Peter Singh

Singh was first elected in 2019 after owning an automotive repair business in Calgary. He is originally from Fiji. Singh faced bribery allegations involving his election campaign, but the UCP government fired the election commission before the investigation was completed.



NDP: Rosman Valencia

A school teacher and activist, Valencia came to Canada from the Philippines in 2015. He is the co-founder of Bahaghari FilipinX, described as “the first FilipinX-Canadian 2SLGBTQ+ organization/group based in Moh’kinsstis.”

Calgary-Edgemont

UCP: Prasad Panda

Panda was first elected in a 2015 by-election after Jim Prentice declined to serve as MLA following the NDP’s victory. He has served as minister of infrastructure since 2019.



NDP: Julia Hayter

Hayter is an active community volunteer who has previously worked in the not-for-profit sector supporting people with disabilities.

NDP: Samir Kayande

An energy consultant and analyst by trade, Kayande was born in Fort McMurray and is a regular commentator in the media on energy issues.

NDP: Parmeet Singh Boparai

After finishing a close second in this riding in 2015, Parmeet Singh Boparai is back as the NDP candidate.

Nixon has served as MLA for Calgary-Klein since 2019. Originally from Calgary, he is the son of Mustard Seed founder Pat Nixon, and the brother of environment minister and UCP house leader Jason Nixon.



NDP: Marilyn North Peigan

A prominent activist, volunteer and a trained military field medic, North Peigan is seeking to become the first Blackfoot woman elected to the Alberta legislature. She ran for council in Ward 7 in 2021.

Sabir is seeking re-election for a third term after winning in 2015 and 2019. Originally from Pakistan, and a lawyer by trade, he served as minister of Human Services in Rachel Notley’s cabinet.

Prior to his election in 2019, Jones worked as an investment banker.

NDP: Luanne Metz

Probably the only candidate who is also an internationally-recognized medical researcher, Metz says she was motivated to run after the UCP’s cuts to healthcare.

Neudorf is seeking a second term after first winning office in 2019. He serves as the UCP caucus chair, and chair of the Standing Committee on Alberta’s Economic Future. Before politics, he worked in commercial construction.

A former two-term Lethbridge city councillor, Miyashiro has been a strident critic of the government's health care policies. He is the executive director of the Lethbridge Senior Citizens Organization, and volunteers with the Humane Society.
